Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Our therapists use CBT to help teens identify the thought patterns driving anxiety, depression, and avoidance, and replace them with tools that actually work in real situations at school and home.
📍 Lombard, IL · DuPage County
Your teenager does not have to figure it out alone. Our licensed teen therapists in Lombard help adolescents ages 12 to 17 build emotional tools, navigate hard seasons, and feel like themselves again.
Who we help in Lombard
Our therapists understand that parents and teens often arrive at therapy from very different places. Both experiences are valid. Both are welcome here.
Doors stay closed. Conversations go nowhere. You sense something is wrong but cannot get through.
Explosive reactions to small things, or a flat, distant version of the teen you know. Neither feels normal.
Grades slipping, avoidance, refusal to go. You cannot tell if it is laziness, anxiety, or something deeper.
Dropping out of activities they used to love. Avoiding friends. Spending hours alone in their room.
Talking, consequences, ignoring it, waiting it out. Nothing has shifted and you are running out of ideas.
You try to explain how you feel and it comes out wrong, or gets minimized. Therapy is a space where that changes.
School, social media, family expectations, figuring out who you are. It adds up faster than anyone admits.
Racing thoughts, dread about things that seem small, a constant background hum of worry you cannot turn off.
Not sad exactly. Just flat. Like things that used to matter do not anymore, and you cannot explain why.
Identity, relationships, what you actually want. These years raise big questions and it can feel overwhelming alone.
Your care team in Lombard
Our therapists specialize in adolescents. They know how to build trust with teenagers who are skeptical, and how to keep parents meaningfully involved without making the teen feel surveilled.
Jami has spent over a decade working with adolescents and families navigating anxiety, identity, and difficult home dynamics. She leads the clinical team and ensures every teen is matched with the right fit.
Rayven specializes in working with teens navigating identity, social pressure, anxiety, and life transitions. She creates a space where adolescents feel genuinely heard, not managed.
Cameren works with adolescents and the families around them, addressing not just the teen but the relational dynamics that shape how they feel at home and in the world.
Kelsey works with adolescents dealing with depression, emotional intensity, and the weight of expectations. She uses DBT and practical skills-based approaches that teens find genuinely useful.
How our therapists work
Our therapists do not talk at teenagers. They build real rapport first, then use structured, evidence-based approaches that meet adolescents where they are developmentally.
Our therapists use CBT to help teens identify the thought patterns driving anxiety, depression, and avoidance, and replace them with tools that actually work in real situations at school and home.
DBT gives teens concrete skills for emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. Particularly effective for adolescents who feel things intensely and struggle to manage reactions.
ACT helps teens stop fighting their thoughts and feelings and start acting in line with their values, a powerful frame for identity work and the existential questions that come with adolescence.
Many teens carry experiences they have never put words to. Our therapists are trained to recognize trauma responses in adolescents and create the safety needed to address them at the right pace.
Teen struggles rarely exist in isolation. Our therapists involve parents in a structured, collaborative way that strengthens the relationship at home without compromising the trust built with the teen.
Many teens find it easier to open up from their own space. Our therapists offer secure video sessions for all Illinois residents, with the same quality of care as in-person.
Getting started
The first call is just for parents. Your teen does not need to be ready yet.
You talk to our Care Coordinator first. Share what you are observing, ask your questions, and get matched with the therapist best suited to your teenager. No commitment, and your teen does not need to be involved yet.
The first session is low-pressure. The therapist focuses on building rapport and understanding your teenager, not jumping straight into hard topics. Parents receive a brief update on how to support progress at home.
As your teen builds emotional skills and self-awareness, the whole family often shifts. Our therapists keep parents informed and involved at a level that supports the work without undermining it.
