Anxiety

Anxiety is a common emotional response that can become overwhelming for some teens and young adults, affecting their daily lives and relationships. Anxiety can cause panic attacks, making it hard for teens to concentrate and function normally in school or social settings. It can also lead to other physical issues such as headaches, stomach aches, and insomnia.

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects the way the brain develops and functions. It can cause difficulty with organization, focus, restlessness, impulsivity, and hyperactivity in teens. Symptoms can vary depending on what type of ADHD is present.

Bipolar Disorder

Bipolar Disorder, characterized by intense mood swings, significantly affects various aspects of a person’s life, including relationships, work or school performance, and overall well-being. This mood disorder involves fluctuating between depressive and elevated or agitated moods, impacting daily tasks and energy levels.

Depression

Depression, a complex mental health disorder affecting individuals differently, brings about feelings ranging from sadness to hopelessness. It cuts across all age groups and encompasses several types, with some becoming severe enough to induce physical symptoms or self-harm.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can have significant and debilitating effects on adolescents who have experienced traumatic events. This condition can arise after exposure to events like physical or sexual assault, accidents, natural disasters, combat, or other life-threatening situations. Individuals with PTSD struggle to cope with distressing memories of the trauma, often experiencing intrusive thoughts, nightmares, or flashbacks triggered by various cues.

Trauma

Trauma takes various forms and can significantly impact an individual’s mental health, with adolescents and young adults being particularly susceptible to trauma-related mental health issues. Adolescents undergoing substantial emotional and psychological growth may find trauma particularly distressing.
